I can be friendly, but I'm more stand-off-ish than not; I suffer fools less than gladly. I'm kind to animals, especially to canines.
...yet another instant messaging program with voice and video; I tend to like this program better than Skype for one reason...you can see up to 6 people at a time instead of only one. With Skype, even if you are talking to a group, you can only see one person in the group whereas, in ooVoo, the choice is bigger, and I think the picture quality is very good.

Getting Rid of Programs

I've been thinking of getting rid of some social network sites on my computer...I never use them; they're taking up room I would have for other things I really want.  I've already rid myself of Facebook--I only got it so I could answer somebody who wrote to me; now comes Bebo and Snapvine; I'm even thinking about ridding myself of Camfrog.  Actually, Camfrog's not bad--you just have to pay attention which room you're going in 'cause of of them allow nudity in some form, and that's not acceptable to me.  Camfrog can also be helpful when you have several people you want to chat up AND see at the same time.

Now that I've put that in writing, it's time for action, so here I go...

One of My Favorite Films

For the longest time I've wanted to see a film that I consider a classic: Top Hat, with (who else?) Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.  I see something new every time I watch it, so it was a real treat getting it in the mail the other day and sitting down to some really good laughs and decent humor.  ...and speaking of something new...(dot, dot, dot) I was looking at the film credits and whom should I see playing the part of the flower shop clerk? Lucille Ball!!!!!  She's mostly turned away from the camera whilst she's talking to the shop proprietor, but it's the same beloved Lucy, and when I consider all the times I've seen this movie, I never noticed the credit until now.

This new discovery has me thinking of all the people I've missed in film credits heretofor; oh, well, I won't be so neglectful from now on.  It's almost like watching episodes of Night Gallery, Twilight Zone or the real, the ONLY Outer Limits Sleeping half-moonStar, and being able to see some really fine actors perform when they were just starting out.  Sometimes it's almost mind-blowing who some of these people are--and to think how they started out.

Eyes

I just KNEW on my last blog that I was forgetting something; now I remember--

I finally have glasses that work Nerd, and boy is that ever something to smile about; I don't even have to take them off when using the computer, i.e., no more "middle distance" crap for me.  My lazy eye is also working finally, since my brain's not giving it anywhere else to go but "up front and center".

Just thought I'd pass that happy piece of info on to all of you.

Blog for 16 May 2009

Here I am again and--welcome to my little corner of the world as I know it.

I moved into a new apartment upstairs from where I used to be; it's really nice: bigger, for certain, but the biggest plus is it's quiet with a capital Q U I E T.  As I think of how lucky I am to have these new digs, my heart bleeds for anyone moving into my old one oh, not for the size, but for the noise coming from next door.

My little doggen, Burt E the Schnoodle, has been back with me for a year now, and what a year it's been.  I cannot begin to tell everyone how delighted I am to have my little boy with me again after all this time.  He's so well-mannered, cute, funny and all-around wonderful that I just can't express it!  He makes friends with everyone here at "the home" and everywhere we go. Jimmy and I got him groomed so he looks so sweet; I prefer him this way to his poodle coat when it's all grown out.

This next item has to have its own paragraph because, if you know how I feel about politicians and politics, you'll probably fall down if you're not already sitting down--here goes (and no, I'm not gonna get married to a politician!): when Burt E had his groom, I had Kym put a little poof on the end of his stubby little tail in honor of--ta DA--President Obama's First Dog, Bo.

One reason I'm getting back on MSN is because my daughter will be moving to Merrie Olde Englande in a few months, and I want to be able to chat with her and my son-in-law so...I'm puttin' everybody on notice--I'll be baaaaahk.

An Unbelievable Update

Yes, indeed...an unbelievable update...well, not THAT unbelievable.  In once sense it's unbelievable because it's an update...you can check for yourself, 'cause updating my blog is a hit-or-miss, do-it-when-I-feel-like-it-and-most-of-the-time-I-don't, type of exercise.

This update is, of course, believable since many different things have happened since I wrote to everyone.  I'm getting old, so my memory bank is getting short of funds, shall we say, so certain items will have to go "unsung".  I spent a month in and out of the hospital for some physical problems, but I'm getting better as time goes on.  In addition, I'll be getting my "lazy right eye Nerd" fixed so I can see properly for the first time in a very long time.  My craft and sewing projects are still waiting patiently for me to do them when the doctor says it's okay to do so.

Father Christopher and Benjamin will be tonsured monks in New York City early next month, before Pascha.  It's a joyous
event, and I'm sorry I won't be able to go.  At least they have my poor prayers to give them comfort.

Burt E Dog face has been here almost one year (he'll be 10 in October), and he is so loved and beloved of many here at "the home" and at PACE.  It's understandable since he's such a terrific little dog.  I'm still so grateful for my daughter for having brought him to me last year...it's been wonderful to share with him what remains of my lifeClock.

That's it for this ever-so-intermittent episode.  God bless all of you.
